Dynamics D365 Case Studies
We have a long history of delivering ERP solutions, guidance and advice to enterprises small and large, local government, NGO’s and law enforcement that go back as far as the 1990’s. Consequently we have quite a list of Dynamics D365 Case Studies we can reference, a few of which we mention below which represent a small proportion of the actual projects we have been involved with over the years.
During this time the size and scale of D365 implementations has grown in line with its increasing capabilities and sales success, we now frequently find ourselves working alongside other MS Partners on their larger projects as well as with our own SME customers.
This collaboration is in recognition of our expertise in manufacturing, process based industry, finance and human resources which is often in short supply amongst Microsoft Partners whose core business originated in the service and finance sectors.
It has resulted in AX Software taking over responsibility for tranches of work within a programme of delivery on behalf of partners, with some of these collaborative relationships going back more than a decade.
Consequently it provides us with many more D365 case studies to choose from as our involvement in D365 projects has varied in duration and frequency according to the requirement asked of us during these joint delivery ERP projects..
We have also seen a growing tendency for Dynamics 365 users to build their own implementation teams, cherry picking consultants that they feel right for their business from the most capable consultants available in the market place and we welcome these sort of engagements too.
We have a long history of both kinds of what in effect is contract work, building relationships directly with clients or via recruitment agencies, several of whom we have well established relations with.
With multiple working modes, including our own direct customer base, its not surprising that we can reference literally scores of D365 implementations, from full end to end rollouts of Dynamics, project restarts, upgrades, reviews – we think we have covered the lot even some of the new technologies such as crypto currency more recently.
AX Software can work with you no matter what type of organisation you are and what you need of us, we recognise that small pieces of work can evolve into something greater and so welcome a conversation about your requirements large or small.
Swapped.com
Based in Denmark, Swapped.com is a crypto service provider launched in 2021 with the objective of making crypto simple, accessible and affordable for everyone. The business has grown to 1.5m users across 150 countries; Swapped supports 30 crypto currencies and 25 fiat currencies.
Crypto, and Bitcoin in particular, is set to revolutionise the way that we hold and transfer wealth, obviating the need for third party ‘middlemen’ like banks.
Having already had one false start, Swapped needed a partner to help them integrate their in house dealing platform with a standard accounting package. AX Software solution architects’ configured the integration between trading and accounting systems, which required a series of bespoke API developments.
Combined Police Authority
This was not your typical implementation story but a project where our expertise was called upon to provide a very large multi-force police project some ‘authority’ of its own working directly for the combined police authorities Programme Director.
The project was extremely complex with interfaces and multiple integration points, many with public sector specific software that wasn’t quite as ‘dynamic’ as the modern MS Dynamics Talent HR solution.
A main challenge the police were faced with was continual under estimation of the go-live timeline. It was our rather more realistic appraisal of how long these integrations, new developments and processes would actually take, contrary to the guidance their MS Partner was providing, that set expectations more appropriately.
The project was an early example of the Agile sprint based methodology which at the time was quite novel, however with so many systems in play and a centralised human resources focus, there were many overlapping elements, a single sprint could not address all the touch points with so many systems in play.
One sprint would close only for a later sprint to impact the same area and require a subsequent revisit, its a risk particularly associated with HR where often a more traditional waterfall methodology is better suited purely because everything keeps returning to an employee record. Its not as transactional as with many other process within an ERP system and needs more of a blended, holistic approach we find.
Our advisory services and insistence that more focus needed to be given to an overall plan of delivery eventually resulted in a more sensible indication of the true timeline which after our engagement had concluded was proven to be realistic. Straight talking is an AX Software approach we adhere to.
Vehicle Rental
Based in the UK Midlands, Reflex Vehicle Hire supplies commercial vehicles to businesses with flexible rental contracts and a full range of services associated with keeping customers’ fleets on the road; both ICE and EVs are available.
The business was being held back by an old vehicle rental application and AX Software, along with our international partners, implemented an end to end Dynamics 365 F&O system which included a vertical specialist vehicle contract rental package that seamlessly integrated with D365.
The implementation included an application to electronically read and post the large volume of incoming purchase invoices and to post and rebill to end users the fines received on vehicles.Click here to add your own text
E-Commerce & Distribution
Midland Systems design and distribute a range of specialised road safety equipment throughout the UK and Ireland to distribution partners and a growing number of direct customers via their e-commerce website.
With manufacturing partners in Asia and a range of new products that were being released in the Autumn of 2025 they had a requirement to link their e-commerce website to an ERP solution that could be implemented quickly with a minimum of consultation.
With bulky product, long shipment lead-times and customers placing advanced orders for seasonal peaks in demand it was essential that purchase orders were auto-generated with approval workflow processes providing timely notifications for management on the move.
Linking their e-commerce website to their Sales Order Processing function and guest user accounts, enabled rapid quotations and sales order responses with next day delivery options in a highly competitive environment where speed was key to success, especially with a growing number of D2Cs orders.
A template configuration that AX Software had developed for the SME sector required a minimal amount of consultative effort and allowed the business to deploy and go live within a 3 month period.
Specialist Plastics Manufacturer
A small team of specialists over an 18 month period followed a phased deployment plan delivering functionality in Sprints, starting with core features and building up the levels of complexity until all the customer requirements were met.
Microsoft themselves recognised the efforts of our Manufacturing & Warehousing consultants with an award for excellence after they successfully deployed the newly released Advanced Warehousing module, one of the first and certainly one of the most sophisticated configurations in the world at that time.
Meanwhile in the Human Resources workstream, after delivering core HR functionality, it was identified that in the next phase rather than code and develop new features that the forward thinking Victrex team wanted, it was better to first review vertical solutions available within the MS Partner Channel.
Microsoft’s have always encouraged the partner community to develop vertical solutions that have to adhere to Microsoft development standards and can become features that can be seamlessly activated within D365. It provides D365 users with strength in depth, with plenty of MS Partner companies and functionality options not just limited to a sole development company.
The review led to one of the earliest instances of Fourvision’s enhanced HR module been deployed in the UK, with much of the capability later been acquired by Microsoft and released in subsequent versions of Dynamics.
